Environmentalists raise concerns over Biodiversity Park at Noida sector 92

Noida : Some of Noida residents were gathered to raise issues concerning alleged cutting of trees from area at sector 91. The residents alleged that as per the Noida Master Plan 2021 75 acre of land in sector 91 is classified as a City Forest area but the same has been changed now.

Environment Conservationist Vikrant Tongad said that “Now making changes in it as per the new Master Plan of 2031, Noida Authority has proposed a recreational Park and Playground which will have food stalls, amphitheaters and other concrete structures. As per NGT orders in any park more 5% of concrete can’t be used”

However the Noida authority stated “the existing 75 acre land will be developed as Noida Biodiversity Park as proposed in the Master Plan 2031”

On allegation of cutting down existing Eucalyptus trees at the site “These were planted 30 years ago and now they had completed their life span. So now those trees had started falling on its own and many of them had shaded leaves, living larger barren patches.”

The proposed Biodiversity Park will have over 120 species of shrubs, herbs and other plants. It will play an important role in imparting Nature Education particularly to school and college students apart from Ecological researchers and nature lovers.

The vegetation for this diversity park is also been selected as suitable soil type and climate of Delhi NCR region.
