Yesterday on 7th November 2019, a fire broke out at one flat in Eldeco Aamantran, Sector 119, Noida around 6am and was detected timely due to smoke coming out of the balcony. No one was at home at the time fire broke out.
Neighbours and guards got inside the flat via balcony, broke the window glasses and brought fire into control without any major damage.
The fire brigade reached in 35 min from the call.
The installed Fire safety system did not work because:
1. Fire hydrant was locked, and no key was available. Residents had to break the glass.
2. There was no pressure in the fire hydrant and someone had to run to the basements to start the jockey pump causing considerable delay.
3. There was no smoke detection or sprinkler system installed in the common area.
4. There is defunct Fire alarm panel, which is showcase only.
Residents, on their own, had conducted an audit in September 2019 and submitted observations which stated very clearly that fire protection system is not ready for emergency. No corrective action has been taken by the builder till date.
