Noida, 7th September, 2022: Police have detained a project manager and a contractor for “mischievously” acquiring more area than needed to undertake patchwork on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway near Sector 142, causing severe traffic congestion.
Ram Kumar Singh, traffic inspector, filed a complaint in this regard.
Vinit Kumar, a contractor from the Meerut-based construction company named Ajay Kumar Constructions, and an unidentified project manager were named as the accused.
Singh claimed in his complaint that the accused contractor and project manager had no conversations with traffic police before installing barricades on the aforementioned stretch of the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, which occupied approximately half of the route.
According to Singh, there is no defined limit for placing barricades building sites; however, if it is on a main road, the concerned individuals must engage top traffic police officers in order to maintain traffic flow.
“As Per the regulations, they should constantly advise us (traffic police) about what they have been allocated and how much time it will take to finish, but they never submit any letter for approval or intimation,” he said, adding that the miscommunication causes further problems for them and commuters.
The two suspects have been charged under Section 431 of the Indian Penal Code (mischief by injury to a public road, bridge, river, or channel). Officials from Sector 142 police station stated that efforts are being made to arrest the accused.
