16year-old fan of Shahrukh Khan, allegedly posed as “Ajay Malhotra” from the actor’s famous Bollywood movie Baazigar and made a terror hoax call to one in Noida, claiming to be a terrorist from Kashmir.The caller allegedly claimed that he had executed two blasts in Mumbai and would be visiting the city again.
Although the plot of the movie did not have any relation with the caller’s act, he chose to be identified as the movie’s main character Malhotra. The call was made to Ravi Shankar Upadhyay, a resident of Salarpur in Noida, on Sunday afternoon, following which Upadhyay reported the matter to the police.Acting on the complaint, the Noida police traced the call to Jodhpur in Rajasthan and a team from the Noida police along with anti-terrorism squad (ATS) personnel went to Jodhpur.On Tuesday night, the police took costudy of 16-year-old boy from his residence in Jodhpur in connection with the matter.
A senior police officer in Noida said, “The call was traced to Jodhpur in Rajasthan. When our team searched the caller’s residence, they found the call was made by a 16-year-old boy.”After questioning the boy, it was revealed that he wanted to call a person with whom he had an argument a couple of days ago, but dialled a wrong number instead.
The officer said, “The boy wanted to harass the person with whom he had an argument but instead wrongly dialled a couple of digits and the call got connected to a person in Salarpur, Noida.”
“When asked why he used the name ‘Ajay Malhotra’ for making the call, the boy told the police that he chose the name from his favourite hero Shahrukh Khan’s character in the film Baazigar,” said Avnish Dixit, station house officer of Sector 39 police station, where the complaint of the fake call was made. Dixit further said the boy, a class 2 drop-out, is a movie addict and a huge fan of Shahrukh Khan.
