PROMISE ME

By Ramita Taneja

One day or rather very soon we will all resume our daily routine and live the life we lived before the covid virus engulfed .I call it PCE or the pre covid era. Soon we would all go back to work, have guests over, the children would start going to school, markets would re open , maids would come to work and so on.
Ofcourse we all will be very cautious and take all advised precautions to keep our families and ourselves safe.

Before we go back to our lives we were living before the corona virus attack
Make a Promise to yourselves
Make a promise to me

Promise, you will still make calls to your aged parents as often as you do now and talk to them to lift their spirits and make them feel loved and not snub them when they make frantic calls to you during your busy day.

Promise, you will together as a couple still share responsibilities of the house chores and not expect only the lady of the house to be responsible for it all.

Promise, you will keep a tab on all your neighbors and volunteer to fetch them essentials and not press the lift button to close as soon as you see another neighbor running towards it.

Promise, you will still cook those healthy meals for your family and share recipe with all your friends and not order food from restaurants at every given opportunity.

Promise, you will still utilize all your spare time to brush up your skills and hobbies and not just kill your precious time doing nothing.

Promise, you will spend quality time with your family playing board games or just having fun and not be occupied on your phone or laptop even on reaching home from office.

Promise, you will still have the biggest heart to help those who are needy and not deduct their wages on breaking a small vase or on taking an off.

Promise, you will still sit with children and help them with their studies and not leave everything for school or tution teachers.

Promise, you will still admire the nature and it’s beauty and participate in keeping it clean and healthy and not start littering on the roads or add to pollution.

Promise, you will still be thankful to God, Doctors, Health workers and every such person who has been your supporter for keeping you safe and not just forget to be grateful.

Promise, you will still take care of your and family health and keep it as a priority to have regular health check ups and not keep postponing because of other social obligations.

Promise, you will continue to save money for a rainy day and not just blow it all up on things not required.

Promise, you will keep your spirits high irrespective of all the negativity around and not succumb to any rumor or let your spirits low.

We have got one more chance to correct our mistakes. Don’t let it go waste or forget this lesson. Remember every situation is an experience and every experience is an opportunity. Promise you won’t miss this opportunity.
