Pollution levels are rising day by day in Noida. For the greater good of the citizens we appeal to the Noida Authority and CPCB to mitigate the situation on war footing as Noida is one of the most polluted cities in NCR. Seeing the incoming threat of COVID-19 it is essential for the Noida Authority to take action as the experts say Covid and Pollution together can prove to be hazardous.
On an average winter day it gets difficult for one to get out because of the rising pollution levels, this seriously impacts businesses of the city as the footfall decreases in markets and people shift to e-commerce. Considering the fact that the festival season is coming a situation wherein people stop coming out to markets will prove to be fatal and kill businesses in a period which supposed to be the most prosperous for us.
We appeal to Noida Authority and CPCB to take cognisance of our concern and take concrete measures to reduce pollution levels in the city.
We suggest the setting up of an Anti-Pollution War Room on the lines of the Green War Room of Delhi to monitor the situation throughout the district and direct on ground teams to take action. Similarly, an anti-dust campaign should be run throughout NOIDA wherein officials implement curbs on the dust pollution caused by construction activity and order them to take up non-polluting measures.
The Noida Authority should further increase the citizen participation in the drive against pollution and ask citizens to report cases of pollution to the authority. The authority in turn should take up immediate redressal and act on the complaint to eliminate the source of pollution.
The Noida Police should appoint more traffic personnel for traffic management in the city. High volumes of traffic and traffic jams adversely affect pollution levels. If traffic can be dealt with pollution levels can be lowered.
The Noida Police patrolling vans should further also keep a check on pollution and coordinate with the authority to make them aware of pollution sources.
The authority should further identify hotspots in Noida where they send teams daily to implement anti pollution measures. Anti smog guns should be further installed at all hotspots.
All housing societies and RWAs should be directed to discourage their guards and staffers from burning wood or garbage in winters for heat. Provision of heaters from RWA/AOA funds at society gates is not a huge expense.
The authority should also increase mechanical sweeping of roads to keep away dust from the atmosphere.
Installation of smog towers and miniature/vertical gardens in marketplaces by the Noida Authority would be highly appreciated.
