Director’s Note
•Freedom of Choice represents something more fundamental than Power, it represents the right of the individual to be free from arbitrary authority of others & to make his or her own decision.
•Often I get disturbed by the society’s attitude towards Sex workers & transgender. Right to choose is a common topic of discussion & debate among the elite but do we practice what we preach or boast ? Rarely !!!!!!!!!!!
Shruti Miital, Co-founder Ekk Junoon says about play:
it’s time we support transgender Indians in their struggle for identity, equality and dignity. And one of the way to do it is by spreading awareness about them and the issues they face. Together, we can help each other create an equal and just society, where every human is treated humanely. Hope Play ‘Kyu Nhii’ can create give our message to society.
About the Play
•The Play is about an unusual friendship between Simran & Maggi. A model & the transgender. Destiny brings them together in their search for their identities. The bond between them is tested when they both fall in love with the same person.
•Would Maggi be able to accomplish her dream of a normal life & career she loves.
•Would their friendship survive the trials of time & society.
The essence of the play is the bonding between Simran & Maggi, their undying passion & belief in each other, their unbiased support to each other in questioning the society.
