Noida: The campaigning for the 73 assembly seats for the UP polls will end on Thursday evening and polling will be held on Saturday February 11.
BJP and the BSP as well as of the SP-Congress alliance, it will be the litmus test for them. There are 836 candidates in the fray in the first phase of polling.
The seats are spread across 15 districts in the western part of the state, including Muzaffarnagar and Shamli that were singed by communal riots in 2013.
The other districts are Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Agra, Etah, Firozabad and Kasganj.
Poll issues like law and order and development were the main poll planks of all the parties.
There are 2.57 crore eligible voters in the first phase.
Besides Union Ministers, present government along with alliance partner congress, BSP and RLD too addressed several public gatherings.while as Sonia Gandhi and Mulayam Singh Yadav did not campaign for the first phase polls.
