Noida, 1st September, 2022: The Supertech Twin Towers in Sector 93A are no longer standing. Residents of nearby ATS Village and Emerald Court, however, feel their presence in the shape of a mound of debris on-site, clouds of dust with suspended particles in the air, flora covered in dust, and their dwellings rendered dirty.
While the latter remains a struggle, the outside air has been filtered as a result of nature’s involvement and the showers on August 29 and 30, 2022.
On the evening of August 28, 2022, nearby people who had to evacuate began returning to their homes. They were both bothered by the odour of dust.
Many residents gathered were praying for rain because common areas and gardens were blanketed with dust. The roadways had also acquired a layer of dust. As a result, people were having difficulty breathing.
Shivani Chouhan, an ATS Village resident, adds, “This rain has given a sigh of relief.” The air quality has greatly improved. However, due to continuing civil construction, we are unable to open doors and windows.”
“I thank God for the rains,” Iti, an ATS Village resident, said. The dust had settled. We had no idea what would come next, but the perspective is clear and breathtaking.”
Residents, though, continue to clean their homes inside and out. The surrounding skyscrapers are still wrapped in geotextile fabric. The tapes have not yet been removed by residents of ATS Village and Supertech Emerald Court.
“I am delighted that my house was not destroyed,” says Mousami, an ATS Village resident. “However, the balcony was covered in dust.” Furthermore, dust could be observed in the air. The AQI was at 500. Three purifiers were constantly running. We sent all of the garments to be dry cleaned because hanging them out would undermine the purpose. However, the rain has improved things.”
