YOU ARE THE QUEEN OF YOUR KINGDOM

By Ramita Taneja

1 बार तुम भी Selfish होकर अपने लिए जीयो ना…The line may sound mean but I admit that often when I would feel low and fallen into the rut of monotony of home chores I would hum the line on top of my voice and charge myself.

I have been a proud homemaker all my married life. A task which is considered constant yet thankless and rewardless or so they believe. I however never have thought it to be so. I love the monotony of cooking, cleaning, feeding, caring because I have trained my mind to understand the importance of this life.

No doubt HOME MAKER, has a negative connotation attached to it. People seem to believe that a home maker is someone who sits in slouchy pajamas on the bed with a tub of icecream and watches daily soaps throughout the day. Well even if that were true, so be it !!

Remember ,self care is not selfish but It is something that you must do to keep the harmony and benefits everyone.

You don’t have to undermine yourself and below are some golden rules which you as a homemaker must follow to have not just a satiating life but also feel more confident about self.

BE HAPPY ABOUT THE CHOICE YOU MADE : Feel lucky that you are able to stay at home and look after your children, not everyone gets that liberty. Most parents are struggling to do the best because they cannot be around do the best for their children Raising a family without losing your mind isn’t easy, and sometimes, it can be a real struggle. They are not immune to these difficulties and still have to work hard every day to make family life run as smoothly as possible.

BE PROUD OF YOUR ROLE :

Not many stay-at-home mothers think that it’s total bliss looking after their children. Being at work isn’t nearly as hard as being at home raising children. Some women stay in their careers, because they just can’t cope with full-time mothering. One has to be strong, confident and selfless to be able to give up your career for your family’s best interest and fulfill the responsibility to bring up your children.

LOOK AFTER YOURSELF, LOOK GOOD : One of the biggest reasons housewives have an easy image is because they have let themselves go. Admit it, girls. Most housewives are in desperate need of a makeover. You need to look good for yourselves, do away with dated hairstyles, throw out clothes which are not in vogue, wear make-up and indulge yourself with occasional beauty treatments and take regular exercise to keep your energy levels up.

BOND WITH YOUR HOME, ITS YOUR REFLECTION :

One of the most important things you can do for your family is to create a beautiful environment for your children to grow up in, and for you and your partner to enjoy. It does not mean you have to mop floors and iron, dust or clean rather create a home full of wonderful memories and family traditions, establish family roots and fill your house with lots of love and laughter. This will help give your child a happy and secure start in life.

GET BACK IN THE KITCHEN : Discard Food with preservatives which is so unhealthy – both for you and your children. It’s easy to serve your family delicious, home-made, nutritious meal and also extremely satisfying when your see yourself child grown healthy and build immunity.

MEET YOUR FRIENDS REGULARLY : Dealing with motherhood can be a lonely experience, and sometimes one starts to feel you are going all wrong. The best way to know and learn is to meet friends, and make them your support system. It also helps you to have a reflection of yourself. It’s important to have a support system outside of your house ,so make time to nurture your friendships.

LEARN TO IGNORE AND RELAX ONCE IN A WHILE : There’s ironing to do, wardrobe needs to cleaning, groceries need to be refilled, But lean to do it all later once in a while. Take a nap, Enjoy time alone with no children, no husband, and no pressure. It makes you much calmer mother, a more attentive wife, and a happier homemaker. You must make time each day just for yourself, even if it’s just ten minutes having a relaxing bath or reading a book. ‘Me’ time is critical in order for you to keep your sanity and not lose patience.
Its ok to have the house in a mess. Laugh it off. Little feet of mud on the carpet will not end the world.

DON’T LET YOUR HOBBY DIE : Remember what you loved to do before all these responsibilities came your way: Gardening, Embroidery, Listening to music, Reading, Cooking, Craftwork anything, The hobbies make you smile and relax. Don’t get so busy that you get no time for the hobbies. Set daily timetable in a way that you get time to relax for things you love.

Put as much energy and passion, if not more into the role you have chosen as a homemaker as your contemporaries who work outside.
You are not the maid when you do your house chores, you are the conductor of your home, set the tone which the entire family abides

Remember YOU ARE THE QUEEN AND THIS IS YOUR KINGDOM.
