Noida, 13th August, 2022: A 24-year-old lady was detained for reportedly strangling her husband to death after they got into a fight over her extramarital affair, police said on Saturday.

According to the police, the suspect has been identified as Mamta, a local of Surajpur’s Devla village. The deceased, 30-year-old Ramkumar, was a native of Bareilly and had been married to the suspect for previous ten years.

Ankita Sharma, an additional deputy commissioner of police, Central Noida, claimed that the deceased victim would frequently get drunk and argued with his wife. “Early on Thursday, Surajpur police learned that a man named Ramkumar had been discovered dead in the area of Devla. After a quick investigation, we discovered that the deceased man’s wife had an affair that he suspected, frequently resulting in arguments between the two, ” said the Noida police.

During one of these fights on the night of August 10 and August 11, the deceased was assaulting the defendant. In a fit of rage, the defendant ended up hitting the deceased’s head against the wall and strangled him with her dupatta.

The deceased, a former mason, was said to have known about the accused’s relationship for some time, according to Noida police. The defendant had previously worked as a labourer in an industrial facility, when she met a man who worked there.

The deceased and the accused shared a room in a three-story building with more than 80 apartments, according to the police, who also noted that the building’s landlord was the one who initially called the police to report the event.

A police squad from Surajpur police station arrived at the scene right away after they received a call about the incident at around 2:30 am on Thursday, the officer informed.

Following a complaint from the deceased’s kin, the woman was apprehended near Tilpatta Crossroad on Friday, the police noted.

According to Sharma, the accused has been detained and was sent to jail on Friday after a FIR was filed against her under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with punishment for murder. A dupatta that was reportedly used to strangle the victim has also been found by Noida police.
