Two held for operating illegal telephone exchange in Noida

Noida, 7th September, 2022: Noida police detained two people for their alleged engagement in running an illegal telephone exchange and retrieved things worth Rs30 lakh from the premises, stated the officials on Tuseday.

According to police, the accused have been identified as Sweety Sharma and Pankaj Saafi, both 32. Sharma is from Bisrakh, while Safi is from Bihar, they added.

The arrests were made following a complaint lodged by an assistant manager of Reliance Jio Infocomm claiming that a company called Gate Great Digital Marketing Pvt Ltd in Noida’s Sector 63 was operating a fraudulent telephone exchange, they stated.

According to Saad Miyan Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida), “A police squad from Sector 63 busted an illegal telephone exchange in Sector 63. We recovered various routers, phone lines, and other equipment that were illegally utilised to redirect international calls to local calls without paying the licence fee.”

The arrests were made in response to a complaint filed by an assistant manager of “We have arrested two people and filed a case against them under the provisions of the Indian Telegraph Act and the Indian Penal Code. We’re also looking into including others in operating the phone exchange,” Khan added.

“The two employees who have been arrested were responsible for switching on the machinery and overseeing the company premises,” said Amit Kumar Maan, Station House Officer of Sector 63 police station.

The Noida police recovered items worth Rs. 30 lakh from the accused, including eight keyboards, 14 mouse, five headphones, five laptop chargers, five router chargers, six computer desktop leads, wires, seven LCD monitors, six internet routers, three internet connection boxes, three CPU’s, five servers, eight laptops, and three mobile phones from various companies.
