Former Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat kicks off T-20 Cricket Tournament in Noida

Noida, 17th October, 2022: Mata Parvati Devi Charitable Trust, Uttarakhand Jan Morcha, and Devbhoomi Sports Foundation are organising a DSF trophy T-20 Knockout cricket tournament- 2022 in memory of Late Virendra Singh Rana which opened on Sunday at Noida Stadium, Sector 21.

The event’s guest of honor was Harish Rawat, former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, and the chief guest was Major General Gopal Kishan Gapreyal, Vice Chancellor of Shubh Bharti. The members of the Mata Parvati Devi Charitable Trust warmly welcomed the chief guests with flower bouquets.

 

Harish Rawat, former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, hoisted the flag as the event’s honoree.

The tournament was jointly inaugurated by Dr Gopal Krishna Thapliyal, Chancellor of Uttarakhand University, and Mangesh Ghildiyal, Additional Secretary, Government of India, by tossing a coin.

On this occasion, the guest of honor stated that “Sports are indeed a symbol of unity,” and that “the primary goal of the cricket tournament is to give a new dimension to sports and better opportunities to talent.” He further appereciated the organizer Mahavir Singh Rana for organizing this tournament in the memory of his late mother.

“Noida is a metropolis among megacities, and I would like to express my gratitude to the organizing committee for presenting a glimpse of Uttarakhand through this cricket tournament. Such initiatives encourage us to strive for competitive excellence,” he added.

 

On the occasion, Additional Secretary Mangesh Ghildiyal stated that the game of cricket always teaches us to struggle, and that it develops not only physical but also intellectual ability.

32 teams from all over Uttarakhand took part in the tournament. The first match featured the teams Uttarakhand Eleven and Pauri Lions. After winning the toss, the Uttarakhand XI team batted first and scored only 112 runs. In response, the Pauri Lions scored 75 runs for the loss of five wickets. Senior philanthropist Aditya Ghildiyal encouraged the players during the cricket tournament.

This tournament was attended by Anuj Agarwal, (Founder and Director of Global chamber of Sports, Education and cultural foundation), Yogendra Sharma, (President, FONRWA) Captain Vikas Gupta, (Chairman, UP council of Agricultural research), NP Singh, (President, DDRWA), Sachin Ambavata, Rajneesh Agarwal, (Finance secretary, Gov. of India), Kummu Joshi Bhatnagar, (Founder, Jagriti Leela memorial) and a large number of spectators of Noida.
